Immanuel Shelter now has limited housing

LEWES, Del. – The Immanuel Shelter says they now have temporary, but limited, homes for the needy.

The Shelter struggled to open this year after the church they normally used for the homeless wasn’t able to donate the space.

So, the Immanuel Shelter did everything they could to make sure everyone has a warm roof over their heads this winter.

Now, the shelter tells 47 ABC they have a few temporary homes or motel rooms that are ready for the homeless, but that they still need to do more.

“It’s still very small and limited, the number of people, we usually see 140 people a year, this is really very limited down to about 20, if we can do that we’ve done something, and we feel really good about it,” Janet Idema, Executive Director of the shelter, said.

The Immanuel Shelter is still looking for other places to house the homeless this winter, and encourages anyone who is interested in helping to reach out on their Facebook Page.
