Georgetown man arrested on robbery charges

GEORGETOWN, Del. – Georgetown Police arrested a man on robbery charges following an altercation Tuesday evening.

Police say they responded to the 500 block of North Bedford Street shortly before 6 p.m. for a robbery complaint. It was learned that the victim was standing outside of a business when two males approached him. One of the males reportedly approached the victim from behind, wrapped his arm around the victim’s neck, and began hitting the victim on the back until the victim fell to the ground.

Another person on scene was able to stop the assault, and the suspect fled from the scene. The victim then noticed that cash had been taken from his wallet.

Officers were able to identify the suspect as 29-year-old Anthony Masariegos, and located him a short time later in the Royal Farms parking lot. He was arrested and charged with second degree robbery, and was held at SCI on $6,000 cash bond.
