Delaware family collecting cookies for troops

DELAWARE – For the 15th year, a Delaware family is sending thousands of cookies to our troops this holiday season but they need your help.

Operation Cookie Drop Off is collecting cookies, preferably homemade, through Saturday, December 7th. There are nine locations across Delaware that are serving as drop off locations. Organizers ask that you pack the cookies in clean Ziploc bags or square containers with 12 or 18 cookies per container. They tell 47 ABC these homemade treats mean so much to our soldiers especially this time of year.

“It’s bad enough to be away from your family but especially when you have little ones and they are experiencing Santa and all the magic of Christmas. So to me just sending them a little taste of home during the holidays could mean all the difference to them,” says Judy Mangini, the organizer of Operation Cookie Drop Off.

Each year, organizers send between 3,000 and 4,000 dozens of cookies to troops. If you’re not really a baker, they can always use shipping donations because last year it cost $2,200 to ship almost 40 boxes of cookies.
