Crowd gathers in Salisbury to support impeachment vote
SALISBURY, Md. – Tuesday night close to 100 people gathered outside of the County Government building in Salisbury. All of them there to show they support the impeachment of President Donald Trump.
Many of them came bearing signs and claims that the impeachment hearings have proven the president had a quid pro quo with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.
Military aid in exchange for Zelensky’s promise to dig up dirt on former Vice President and 2020 candidate Joe Biden.
“I believe he’s lawless and he doesn’t respect the rule of law we need to stand up and protect our constitution,” said Todd Goodrich.
But that truth, according to the shore’s representative Congressman Andy Harris (R D-1) is that the democrats don’t have evidence to support impeachment.
“The fact of the matter is that Americans want congress to be dealing with things like border security, economy, the price of prescription drugs. The issues that are important to them instead of wasting time on a sham impeachment where everyone knows what the outcome is,” Harris said.
The congressman also backed up his statement with reference to an ABC – Washington Post Poll that found that a majority of registered voters don’t want the president impeached.
A stance some people we spoke with agree on.
“I don’t think there was a crime that was worthy of impeachment, I think they need to move on,” said Steve Sharp.
“I love the man, I love his family, and I don’t think he did anything wrong,” said Mary Harris. “I pray to Jesus that they keep him in office.”
The House is expected to vote on two articles of impeachment Wednesday following a vote to affirm the rules laid out Tuesday.
If Congress does vote to impeach the president, the Senate will then hold a trial on the matter most likely at the start of the new year.
