Community mourns man shot and killed on Saturday

SALISBURY, Md. – Police are still searching for the person responsible for fatally shooting 31-year-old man, Stefon Hagans, on Dale Lane over the weekend.

“We want to bring justice to the families, we want to bring justice to the loved ones of these families,” said Sheriff Mike Lewis at the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.

On Saturday morning, neighbors say police took over the area after they found Hagans lying outside his home with gunshot wounds.

Some neighbors say, they heard several shots fired.

They say Hagans was a family man. Online, people sharing on social media that they have lost a brother, a loyal friend and someone who would light up rooms just with a smile.

“I’ve been following social media, and I know people have been largely affected by the homicide that occurred on Dale Lane on Saturday morning,” said Lewis.

Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says what is making this search difficult is that there is not much information to go off of.

“We do not know anything about the suspect at this time,” said Lewis, “We’re still following many leads.”

So, they need people to come forward and help them get the gunman off the streets.

“We do not believe that there’s a larger threat to the community, but anytime you have a gunman on the streets who is targeting individuals for assassination it is a very big concern to us,” said Lewis.

While they search, neighbors are keeping the Hagans’ family in their thoughts.

“It is Christmas time now and this is just really sad and I hope the family, you know, I pray that they’re all strong and pull together for all this,” said Kimberly Rowe, a resident who lives on Dale Lane.

Community members are planning to host a candlelight vigil Monday night to remember Hagans.

Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to reach out to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office at 410-548-4891.
