Cape holds off Poly in season opener

LEWES, Del. – The Cape Henlopen Vikings got double-digit points from three different players to hold of Polytech 60-56.

Both teams got off to a slow start but heated up behind the arc and ended the first quarter 17-14. Ja’Vaughn Burton cruised in the first quarter to set the tone for the Vikings, while Demetrius Fontnel kept Polytech in the game.

In the second half, Cape started to pull away after some tough defense and getting multiple Poly defenders in foul trouble. Polytech managed to make it a one possession game late, but couldn’t manage to stop the Cape offense.
