Berlin police officer honored by Norwegian Cruise Line

MARYLAND – An Eastern Shore police officer just won a contest sponsored by Norwegian Cruise Line. Now, he’s being honored as an everyday hero with a very cool prize.

Joseph Kerr, a Berlin police officer, is Maryland’s sole winner for the contest known as Encore Moments. The campaign recognizes 64 people from across the country and Canada. Kerr’s wife nominated him for his role as a father, step father, police officer and volunteer. Kerr says he’s humbled and excited to be selected as the state’s winner.

“All the votes and people kept coming up to me saying ‘Hey man I voted for you’ or ‘I saw your profile on there. It’s amazing what you guys are doing’. And I mean it’s not just me. We’re all doing it. So it was just really nice to actually hear and see the people come forward and say ‘hey look’ and get a pat on the back and say ‘It’s a great job what you’re doing,'” says Kerr.

In just a few days, Kerr and his wife will head to New York City for an awards ceremony. They also get their choice of a three to five day cruise on almost any Norwegian Cruise Line ship. Congratulations Joseph! Way to represent the Eastern Shore!
