Attempted armed robbery leads to investigation in Frederica

FREDERICA, Del. — Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened in Frederica last Thursday.

Just before 7:30 p.m., troopers were called to the JC Liquor Mart at 7615 Old Beach Road for a reported robbery.

On arrival, a 71-year-old male employee told police that an unknown suspect came into the store wearing a ski mask.

The employee says he approached the suspect when it appeared to him that he had a handgun. The suspect then, reportedly struck the victim with the handgun and a tussle ensued.

The suspect fled the scene on foot leaving the liquor store empty handed.

The victim sustained only minor injuries in the incident and declined medical treatment.

The suspect was described as a male, approximately 6’2″, at least 200 pounds, with a ski mask, gloves, a dark green puffy winter jacket with fur lining on the hood and jeans.

The unknown man can be seen in the picture above provided by the surveillance footage from the liquor store.
