Annual Wreath-Laying event for veterans

SALISBURY, Md.- The act of laying wreaths at the graves of our fallen veterans has become an annual tradition, as part of the Wreaths Across America Mission.

Thursday Perdue Farms and its truck drivers had a public wreath-laying ceremony in memory of those who have served and who are serving.

Perdue drivers, some who are vets themselves, their families, and students came to share their support.

Veterans said that this event gives citizens a chance to give back and be a part of something that’s bigger than themselves.

“It just warms your heart because a lot of individuals here have paid, their loved ones paid the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of our country, and regardless of religion or faith or what you believe, we’re all Americans and we just need to come together and support that,” Darren Hunt, Perdue driver and U.S. Veteran, said.

Since 2007, Perdue drivers have delivered more than 200,000 wreaths to cemeteries as a partner with Wreaths Across America, and this year more than 30,000 wreaths will be delivered.

Their journey to deliver wreaths will be from New York to Florida and will begin on December 14th.
