YMCA hosts annual Turkey Trot

SALISBURY, Md. – What’s the perfect way to burn calories either before or after you gulp down turkey on Thanksgiving? By exercising!

That’s how a group started their Thanksgiving at the YMCA in Salisbury on Thursday at the annual Turkey Trot.

The 5k kicked off at 8:30 in the morning, all of course before those runners headed home to get cooking.

Runners tell 47 ABC this is the perfect way to start Thanksgiving, all while giving back.

“All of the fees from this race go back into our local YMCA, and their programs support so much, from swimming lessons to summer programs, so it’s a really good cause to support as well,” Melissa Batie, the winner out of the women’s group, said.
