Two arrested in connection to string of burglaries

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police arrested two people in connection to a string of recent burglaries in the Dover area.

Police say the first incident happened on October 15th, where suspects forced entry into a residence on N. American Avenue and stole jewelry as well as other high-value items.

On November 8th, a burglary was reported at the Calvary Baptist Church at 410 Fulton Street, during which a suspect removed a window air conditioning unit and stole a desktop computer. Another burglary was reported at the same church on November 19th, during which a suspect broke a glass window and stole several computers from the building.

The next day, November 20th, a burglary was reported at a residence in the 200 block of North State Street, where an iPad was stolen.

While investigating these incidents, police identified 25-year-old Tywon Mack as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.

On November 21st, a burglary was reported at Mount Zion Church on North Queen Street, during which the suspect broke a basement window and rummaged through various parts of the building. It is unknown if anything was stolen during this incident, however, the same church was burglarized once again the next day. The suspect tried to pry open two safes inside the church before fleeing.

The Bethuel Seventh Day Adventist Church on N. Queen Street also reported an attempted burglary on November 22nd, saying that a suspect broke a window to the church. It did not appear that the suspect(s) made entry or stole anything in this incident.

On November 23rd, an officer on patrol was checking the area of North West Street when they noticed a broken window with the lights on inside at the Mt. Carmel Church. Mack and 19-year-old Vincent Green were taken into custody inside of the church at this time.

Mack was charged with resisting arrest, offensive touching, five counts of third degree burglary, two counts of second degree burglary, six counts of theft, six counts of criminal mischief, and second degree conspiracy. He is being held at SCI on $27,750 secured bond.

Green was charged with four counts of third degree burglary, second degree burglary, four counts of theft, five counts of criminal mischief, and second degree conspiracy. He was held at SCI on $19,000 bond.
