Thanksgiving travel uptick

47ABC – It’s the calm before the storm because Wednesday, Americans will travel more than they have all year. November 27th is expected to be one for the record books and across Delmarva law enforcement agencies and highway officials are gearing up. The Maryland Transportation Authority, DelDOT, and VDOT all issued travel alerts tonight on social media warning of an influx of vehicles on the roadways.

According to MDTA, conditions are expected to get a little crazier. That’s because major construction projects will not stop for the holiday. Switching back to the first state, DEL-DOT tells us that 135,000 Delawareans will hit the roads tomorrow. which is just a fraction of the 55 million Americans expected to travel.

In Virginia, transportation officials are urging drivers to leave early, stay late, and most of all use common sense.
