Separate traffic stops lead to three arrests, seizure of two guns
SMYRNA, Del. – Police say two separate traffic stops resulted in three arrests earlier this week.
At around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, an officer with the Smyrna Police Department saw 20-year-old Kashar Mcivor driving a vehicle on S. East Street, who was known to be wanted and did not possess a valid driver’s license. A traffic stop was initiated, and further investigation led police to find a loaded stolen handgun and a small amount of marijuana and powder cocaine in his possession. He was also wanted on four separate court capiases, including one for failing to appear for sentencing on charges of sexual solicitation of a child under 18.
Mcivor was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a controlled substance, driving without a valid license, and possession of marijuana. He was held at SCI on $23,700 cash bond for his new charges as well as a secured bond for his four outstanding capiases.
On the same day, shortly before 9 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for driving the wrong way down a one-way road. Contact was made with the driver, 40-year-old Quintin Lowman, and passenger, 27-year-old Lisa Galey. During the stop, it was learned that both occupants had active warrants out for their arrest, and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a concealed loaded handgun in a bag.
Lowman was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, second degree conspiracy, driving while suspended, and driving the wrong way on a one way street. He was released after posting $28,002 bond.
Galey was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, second degree conspiracy, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released after posting $18,100 secured bond.
