Seaford man arrested for assaulting police officer
SEAFORD, Del. – Delaware State Police charged a Seaford man Thursday afternoon after he assaulted a police officer while resisting arrest.
At around 3:15 p.m., members of the Sussex Governor’s Task Force (GTF) responded to a residence in the 11000 block of Taylor Mill Road in Laurel for an arrest attempt. The suspect, 42-year-old Burton Carmean, was wanted for a violation of probation out of Sussex County and a failure to appear capias out of Kent County.
When officials arrived, Carmean was outside, but ran back inside the residence when he saw police. Carmean was eventually found hiding inside a bedroom, but when officers attempted to arrest him, he resisted and charged at a trooper, causing minor injury to the trooper.
Carmean was taken into custody and charged with assault second injure a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with force or violence that injures law enforcement officer, and menacing. He is currently being held at SCI on $10,200 cash only bond.
