Rep. Andy Harris announces grants to local firefighters
CRISFIELD, Md. – Andy Harris announced that several fire departments in the First Congressional District will receive more than $1.3 million in FEMA grants, including the Crisfield Fire Department.
The grants were awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program and the Staffing for Adequate Fire & Emergency Response Grant Program.
On the shore, the Crisfield Fire Department received a $200,000 grant, while the Denton Volunteer Fire Company received $228,928.57. In addition:
- The Queenstown Volunteer Fire Company (Queen Anne’s County) received $169,809.52
- Water Witch Fire Company (Cecil County) received $407,142.85
- Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company (Harford County) received $49,749.09
We’re also told the United Communities Volunteer Fire Department in Queen Anne’s County received $335,000 from the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency response grants.

These men and women save lives, and as a member of the Appropriations Committee I understand the need to support emergency personnel in our local communities. These grants have my full support,” said Any Harris in a statement.
