Preparations underway for annual wreath laying ceremony

SALISBURY, Md. – Officials are preparing for this year’s wreath laying at Parsons Cemetery but they need donations and volunteers to make it happen.

This is the third year that the local non-profit Operation We Care is partnering with Wreaths Across America. Through the program, volunteers put almost 900 wreaths on the graves of veterans last year. Organizers say the goal is to “remember, honor and teach”.

“The teach part of it is to reach out to the younger members of our community to show them the importance of remembering how important it is to live in a land of freedom that we do and not to take it for granted and to never forget our Veterans and their service and their sacrifice,” says Jeff Merritt, the founder of Operation We Care.

The ceremony is happening on December 14th at 10 a.m. and it should last for about an hour. Each wreath costs 15 dollars.

If you would like to donate to the cause visit WreathsAcrossAmerica.org and search for Parsons Cemetery.
