Parkside field hockey falls in state semifinals to Oakdale

ANNAPOLIS, Md- The Parkside field hockey team fell one game short of a state final appearance, going down 1-0 to Oakdale in the 2A state semifinals on Thursday night at Broadneck High School in Annapolis.

The Rams had a number of chances in the first half to score, drawing 11 corners to Oakdale’s two. After a scoreless first half where Parkside controlled much of the possession, the tide was turned late in the first and early into the second half. The Bears became the aggressors, and drew four corners in the second half, to the Rams two. After both teams exchanged more unsuccessful scoring opportunities, the game would end 0-0 in regulation.

In the OT, the Rams- like in regulation, had a couple of prime scoring opportunities that did not go their way. With 1:21 left in OT, Oakdale’s Emma McGaha would push across a deflection for the game-winning goal.

The Rams finish the season with a 13-3 overall record.
