New Mexico man sentenced for making bomb threats in Del.

WILMINGTON, Del. – A New Mexico man who made bomb threats to the Georgetown Walmart and Georgetown Elementary School back in May has been sentenced to 27 months in prison.

According to court documents, at around 1:43 p.m. on May 9, 2018, Landes called the Georgetown, Delaware Walmart from Roswell, New Mexico, claiming to be a certain resident of Georgetown and stating that he had a bomb and child hostage in the bathroom. He demanded $20,000 and threatened to blow up the Walmart if he did not receive the money. Law enforcement officials responded to the scene, and a K-9 search of the store resulted in no evidence of a bomb.

A few minutes later, at approximately 1:56 p.m., Landes called Georgetown Elementary School and claimed to be the same resident of Georgetown. He told the school that he had two children buried in his basement and that there was a bomb in the school. No bomb or any other threats were found at the school after further investigation.

Landes pled guilty to one count of interstate threats concerning the use of an explosive back in August.
