Mountaire food drive to feed 10,000 local families

SELBYVILLE, Del. – Mountaire’s Thanksgiving for Thousands Food Drive is back, collecting food for families in need this holiday season.

More than 100 volunteers will be stationed at 16 grocery stores across Delmarva this weekend. When you walk into a participating store, you’ll see people handing out flyers with a list of food that you can donate. To make it easy for you, most of the food items on the list will be located on displays at the front of the grocery store. That food will then be packed into boxes for local families to enjoy.

“On the flyer it will tell them, the customers coming through the store, what we would like them to purchase: gravy, stuffing mix, brownie mix, yams, corn, green beans and cranberry sauce,” says Roger Marino, community relations director for Mountaire Farms.

This is the 25th year of Mountaire’s Thanksgiving for Thousands event. Through this food drive, they’ve helped feed more than one million people on Delmarva.

The collection event is happening Saturday, November 16th at the following stores:

  • Berlin, Marlyand – Walmart
  • Milford, Delaware – Walmart and Redners
  • Rehoboth Beach, Delaware – Walmart, Giant, Safeway
