Harrington Police arrest man on shoplifting and other charges

HARRINGTON, Del. – Harrington Police arrested a Milford man after investigating two shoplifting complaints.

On November 15th, Harrington Police were called to Midtown Liquors in the Liberty Plaza Shopping Center for a reported shoplifting. Investigation revealed that an unknown suspect stole alcohol and fled without paying for the merchandise. Surveillance video allowed police to obtain a suspect description.

On Thursday, police were called back to the same store after the suspect returned to the store and was identified by an employee as the suspect. The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Charles Austin, was found with alcohol in his clothing that he had just stolen from the store, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Austin was arrested and charged with two counts of shoplifting under $1500 and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was later released on his own recognizance.
