Food pantries unite for first ever county-wide food drive

DENTON, Md. – Food pantries across Caroline County are teaming up to fight hunger with their first ever county wide food drive.

The food drive is being led by Caroline’s Helping Hand.

Some of the food pantries involved include Giving Grace Food Pantry in Goldsboro and St. Martin’s Barn in Ridgely.

Organizers are asking local businesses and churches to encourage people to donate non-perishable items like canned food and oatmeal.

They say there are too many families struggling to make ends meet during the holidays.

“By doing a drive like this, it’s the tip of the iceberg, but at least it builds awareness, it gets people to want to volunteer and it helps our neighbors to be healthy,” said Roxanne Wolf at Caroline’s Helping Hands.

“We want everyone to do well in the county,” said Wolf.
