Family decks out lawn for Christmas

PITTSVILLE, Md. – If you want to get into the Christmas spirit, just head down to Pittsville.

Mike and Marsha Newton decked the halls in their front lawn, packing their property with decorations for the holiday season.

The Newtons say they do this every year and begin decorating the day after Halloween.

On Thanksgiving, they’ll host an official lighting ceremony, where the community is invited to come walk around and see all of the decorations.

They’ll also hand out candy canes, hot chocolate, and, of course, tons of cheer.

The Newtons say they do all of this just to bring the community together.

“We like to see the little kids, their faces light up, we’ve had people stop during the week when we’ve been setting up at night when the lights have still been on, and the kids’ faces, they get all excited and they want to run and see everything, it’s just awesome,” Marsha Newton said.

The Newtons will host that lighting ceremony Thursday night at 7. You can find the display outside their home along Friendship Road.
