Family breaks into Lewes home with “intention of staying there”

LEWES, Del. – Police say a Delaware husband and wife were arrested Saturday night after they broke into a home “with the intention of staying there”.

According to officials, Ray Pollard and his wife Michelle Pollard broke into a Lewes home in the 16000 block of Derby Drive. The owners arrived back at their home just before 5 p.m. and found the pair inside before calling the police. When police arrived, they found the Pollards’ minivan parked in the home’s garage with their 16-year-old child inside the car.

Police say the Pollards did not comply with officers’ commands but they were eventually arrested.

The suspects, 46-year-old Ray Pollard and 42-year-old Michelle Pollard, face the following charges:

  • Burglary second degree
  • Conspiracy second degree
  • Endangering the welfare of a child
  • Resisting arrest
  • Criminal mischief

They were both were arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $6600.00 unsecured bond. It is not clear if the child was turned over to protective services.
