Educators to discuss Kirwan Commission at Community Forum
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Educators in Dorchester County are gearing up for a critical night that will help to determine the future of the Kirwan Commission.
Thursday night educators will host a community forum with state legislators, parents and the Maryland State Education Association to discuss the commission.
Organizers say this is all part of a push to address the needs of students and the four billion dollars associated with the commission.
Panelists include the Dorchester County Public Schools Superintendent W. David Bromwell, a teacher and a recent graduate.
Bromwell says there are many questions about the Kirwan Commission and the county needs answers.
“There’s somewhat of a misinformation about what is this Kirwan Bill, what is this all about, and why are they saying 4 billion dollars? Why is that? And I think you have to go out to the local communities,” said Bromwell.
The community forum will take place Thursday night at 6 at the Dorchester Career & Technology Center.
