Early morning armed robbery in Lewes under investigation
LEWES, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened early Friday morning in Lewes.
According to police, the incident happened shortly after midnight, in the Wawa parking lot on Dartmouth Drive. A 17-year-old male victim reported that while he was pumping gas, he was approached by three male subjects, one of whom asked for his wallet. When the victim refused, the subject reportedly hit the victim, while another subject pulled out a knife. The third suspect then got into the back seat of the vehicle and grabbed a 16-year-old female passenger.
The male victim gave the subjects an unknown amount of cash before fleeing the scene in a dark colored SUV. Neither of the victims were injured during the incident. The subjects were described as males ranging from 15 to 20 years of age, all wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt.
