Delaware Thunder drop series opener to Thunderbirds
HARRINGTON, Del. – The Delaware Thunder dropped their series opener to the Carolina Thunderbirds 7-2.
Carolina, the defending champions from last season, got on the board first, got on the board first when Konnor Haas cleaned up a rebound shot and beat the goalie for the easy goal on a 5-on-3 power play.
The Thunder answered back with a goal of their own after Ryan Marker netted a goal on the left side, shuttling it past the goalie.
But the Thunderbirds offense was too strong as they rattled off three goals in the third period to sink the Thunder.
