CR says DIAA is investigating football incident

CAMDEN, Del. – A spokesperson from the Caesar Rodney School District has said the DIAA is investigating an illegal play that happened during Friday night’s game against Sussex Tech.

The play happened in the 4th quarter with the score tied 21-21. The tech running back seemingly was on his way to a big run when a CR player comes off the sideline and blindsides him.

The play was flagged, the player was ejected and Tech was awarded the touchdown, but more sanctions may be coming from the state.

Monday the school district gave this statement to 47 ABC:

The Caesar Rodney School District prides itself on sportsmanship and we intend to fully cooperate with the DIAA investigation into the incident that took place Friday, November 1st 2019 during the Sussex Tech football game.”

47 ABC also reached out to the Sussex Tech School District for a comment about the matter, but they declined.

Meanwhile, 47 ABC also placed calls to the DIAA about the investigation, but they were not returned.

Although the school districts may be tight-lipped, people are commenting on social media. The play was featured on Barstool Sports Instagram where it has over 1.2 million views.
