Wildcats shutout at home by Wilmington Friends
DELMAR, De- The Delmar Wildcats football team was shutout at home for the first time in 12+ years, falling 19-0 to Wilmington Friends on Saturday night at Francis E. Nunvar Stadium.
After a scoreless first quarter, Anthony Dixon would push a 2-yard run into the end zone, putting the Quakers up 7-0. Jacob Jaworski would add a 38-yard field goal before the half, to give Friends a 10-0 lead headed into halftime.
In the second half, a muffed punt snap would result in a disastrous play for the Wildcats. Friends’ Peter Erskine would pick off an attempted throwaway, resulting in a 17-0 lead for the Quakers. The road team would add a safety in the fourth quarter.
Delmar (3-2) will travel to undefeated Lake Forest (5-0) next Friday night.
