Wicomico Co. extends burn ban

WICOMICO CO., Md. – The Wicomico County Council has extended the countywide burn ban as a result of recent drought conditions.

The ban is in effect from today, October 15th, and is scheduled to last “for the duration of the emergency”. Exceptions to this ban include gas and charcoal grill use, campfires at Roaring Point and Sandy Hill campgrounds, recreational campfires on private property and public campgrounds, and the staging of professional fireworks displays.

Violators could face a $500 fine per incident. Citizens may report violations during regular business hours at 410-548-4860 or the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office at 410-548-4891 after hours.
