Two robbed in vehicle, DSP investigating
DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating after two people were reportedly robbed in their vehicle Wednesday evening.
Police say the incident happened at around 7:45 p.m., on Red Tail Drive, Quail’s Nest, in Dover. It was learned that two victims, a 74-year-old woman and her 78-year-old husband, were driving home from a restaurant in Dover when suddenly an unknown suspect sat up in the back seat of their vehicle and asked them to stop. The victims did not know someone was in their vehicle and had no idea when or how the person got into their vehicle.
The victims then stopped the car, at which point the suspect grabbed the male victim and threatened to cut him with a knife if he didn’t give him money. The suspect grabbed the woman’s purse from the floor of the front passenger seat, leading to a brief struggle between the male victim and the suspect. The female victim accelerated their car towards a home and both victims got out, at which point they realized the suspect was no longer in their car.
Neither victim was injured, and told police that they did not actually see a weapon and that the suspect only implied that he had a knife in his possession. The suspect was described as a male between 35 and 50 years old.
Police are asking anyone who may have information on this incident to contact Detective Ford at 302-697-4454 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
