Town of Pittsville signs new contract to improve water plant
PITTSVILLE, Md. – Water and sewer rates could soon go up for Pittsville residents now that the town has hired someone else to run its water plant.
Starting on Tuesday, a Pennsylvania-based company called Singh Operational Services will be operating and maintaining the plant for the next three years.
It is a 148,000 dollar contract and although it is a much more expensive option Joe Mangini, the town manager, believes the town will save money in the long run since this company is much better equipped to repair and run the plant.
“The responsibility of the plant is theirs now,” said Mangini.
“They’re under contract with us, and we are ultimately going to be responsible, but it’s their license, their reputation, and I’m positive it’s going to work out perfect,” said Mangini.
According to Mangini, rate increases are not set in stone just yet.
