The Wall That Heals arrives in Ocean View
OCEAN VIEW, Del. – Over 58,000 Americans who paid the ultimate sacrifice are being honored in Ocean View.
Between now and Sunday, October 6th, people in the community will get the chance to visit The Wall That Heals at the VFW 7234 in Ocean View.
The wall is a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at the capital.
The replica is 375 feet in length and stands over 7 feet high.
As part of an exhibit, several ceremonies will also take place and visitors will have opportunities to learn about the history of the Vietnam War.
“When we came home from Vietnam a lot of us were treated very badly, some of us like myself were spit upon by people and it’s completely different now, so we’re going to honor today, honor our members our brothers and sisters that we lost,” said Hal Dietrich, Senior Vice Commander at the VFW Post 7234.
There will be a special candlelight ceremony at the wall on Friday to honor these soldiers while also giving local veterans some time to heal.
