Sussex Central owns Georgetown after defeating Tech 30-16
GEORGETOWN, Del.- Taking a 14-7 lead at the half, Sussex Central held on in the second to defeat Tech 30-16. With the win, Central improves 6-1 on the season and the loss drops Sussex Tech to 3-4.
With a tie game just before half, the Golden Knights would go up a score with just over a minute to play. TyJhir Sheppard-Parker got the call, a three yard touchdown plunge to make it 14-7 at half.
In the second half, the Ravens would pull within one point. Following a fumble recovery inside the fifteen yard line, Chase Snyder found Grant Lamers for the score but the extra point was blocked making it 14-13.
On the ensuing Golden Knights drive, the home team would drive it 47 yards capping off an all run drive with a one yard Sheppard-Parker score, two point conversion GOOD making it 22-13 with 45 seconds left on the clock.
In the fourth quarter, the Ravens cut it to a six point game after a short Caleb Locklear field goal with just 6:30 left on the clock. Needing to just run out the clock, Central handed it off to their do it all RB Kasim Lewis. He took the handoff up the gut 40 yards for the score to make it 30-16 and the Golden Knights would hold on from there.
Sussex Central will look to continue their hot streak when they host Milford next Friday on homecoming night. The Ravens will look to right the ship next Friday hosting a struggling Dover squad.
