Salisbury University to host their 6th Annual “Zombie-Infested” 5K
SALISBURY, Md. — Salisbury University is getting ready for a bone-chilling, spooktacular weekend.
The university says they will be hosting their 6th Annual “Zombie Infested” 5K Dash.
The event is Saturday, October 26th, 2019, at Salisbury University outside of Maggs Gym here in Salisbury, Maryland.
The theme is zombies and there will be lots of them! But don’t worry, it’s not a zombie apocalypse this time, this event is all for a good cause.
Brielle McQuinston, the Salisbury University Student United Way Club President, tells us the event is this Saturday. She mentions that they have raised over $36,000 for the United Way at the Lower Eastern Shore.
Brielle also tells us it is a super fun event for everyone. The 5K dash starts at 11 AM and the 1-mile zombie walk starts at 11:15 AM.
You may want to get there early because registration starts at 10 AM. You have to give yourself enough time, so the zombies can scare you while you run.
Brielle also tells us throughout the course there will be hidden zombies jumping at you. That should be more than enough motivation to run the race!
After all of the running and flesh-eating zombies, registrants can enjoy an outdoor after-party with prizes, refreshments, games, a costume contests, and tasty and spooky treats!
Amanda Hailey, who’s the community outreach coordinator for the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore, says they can expect to see 50 to 125 zombies and dashers.
She also mentions that all of the proceeds from the event go to the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore.
Amanda tells us she is thankful for the sponsors of the event and the support from the community.
Now, they are still looking for volunteers and runners willing to work with the living dead, a.k.a zombies, so to register you can visit their website at www.uwles.org/5k.
The 5K registration starts at $25 for the local community. Registration for SU faculty is $15, $10 for SU students and children ages 11 to 17.
Children 10 and under get to run with the zombies for free.
Also, the one-mile walk is $10 for everyone participating. So park your broom, hold on to your brains and get ready to run!
It’s bone-chilling fun for the whole family, just in time for Halloween.
