Salisbury City Council aims for control of liquor licenses

SALISBURY, Md. – Businesses in Salisbury may soon have an easier, and perhaps quicker, way to receive a liquor license.

City council members are working to allow the city to create and run its own liquor license board.

The process is currently run through the County, but council members say running it through the city would make it easier on business owners, and allow for more transparency.

Council members tell 47 ABC that many of the businesses in Wicomico County that apply for liquor licenses are in Salisbury, anyway, so this move makes sense.

“We want to make it as easy as possible to do business in the city of Salisbury, and so this is one thing that we want to make sure we have control of,” Councilman Muir Boda said.

Councilman Boda says council members will discuss their next moves at their upcoming working meeting, which will take place in about two weeks.
