Police catch man breaking into Harrington Verizon store

HARRINGTON, Del. – Harrington Police arrested a Fort Washington, MD man after catching him breaking into a business in the area.

At around 2:45 a.m. Thursday, Harrington Police received a tip about recent burglaries that had just happened at Verizon stores in the Dover area. As a precaution, police responded to the Verizon store in the 17000 block of South DuPont Highway for a property check, and on arrival found a subject inside the store stealing items. The subject initially fled out a window on foot but was quickly apprehended after the officer deployed his K-9.

It was then discovered that the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Laron Allen, had stolen more than $30,000 worth of items from the Harrington Verizon store. Further investigation linked Allen to the burglaries that had happened earlier in the evening in the Dover area.

Allen was charged with wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, two counts of third degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, theft over $1500, criminal impersonation, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest. He was also charged with several other burglary related charges from Dover Police and Delaware State Police.

Allen is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on a secured bond. No mugshot of Allen is available at this time.
