Pocomoke and Crisfield tie in double OT with no goals scored
POCOMOKE, Md.- After 100 minutes of game time, Pocomoke and Crisfield boys soccer tie 0-0. With the tie, Pocomoke moves to 8-2-1 while Crisfield sits at 7-3-1.
It was a defensive battle early, both teams able to get some shots on goal but it was a big day for both keepers. Warriors goalie Ethan Peterson with eight saves in the first half and Crabbers keeper Simon Evans with four of his own. The game would go into the half tied at zero. The Crabbers dominating the time of possession, keeping the ball on their side of the half for most of the first.
The second half was much of the same, with Pocomoke able to get more opportunities on their side of the field. We would end regulation with a 0-0 tie. Both keepers in the double digits for saves, Peterson with 14 and Evans with 10. Neither team would be able to break the tie in the first overtime so we would go to another ten minute period. As time wound down, Pocomoke drew a free kick from 20 yards out. Asaiah Wises volley would slide through the hands of Evans, bounce off a Pocomoke player and land in the goal to break the tie and potentially win the game for the Warriors but a hand ball is called wiping the goal off the board. Time ran out for either team to get on the board as the game ended in a 0-0 tie. Peterson ended the night with a game high 21 saves, Evans finishing with 15.
Pocomoke returns to action Thursday when they travel to Salisbury to take on Parkside. The Crabbers will look to get back in the win column when they take on Somerset County rival Washington on Thursday.
