Ocean City woman convicted of theft
SNOW HILL, Md. – An Ocean City woman was convicted on theft charges in a Snow Hill courtroom late last week.
On Friday, 45-year-old Jennifer Zadnick (aka Jennifer Snider) was convicted of theft from $100 to $1500.
The charges stem from Zadnick’s involvement in a fundraiser for the Ocean Pines Fire Department. Zadnick was contracted by the fire department to host a Quarter Auction at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club in April of this year. During the auction, guests and fire department officials reportedly became suspicious of fraud when they realized that certain bid numbers were being drawn more frequently than others, and that Zadnick’s son was the holder of the winning bid numbers.
Fire department officials then contacted Ocean Pines Police, and it was determined that Zadnick had duplicated her son’s bid numbers on several chips to make it more likely that he would win. Zadnick stole a total of $530 worth of auction items as a result of the rigged bidding scheme.
Sentencing is scheduled for December 20, 2019.
