North Caroline comes back in the 4th, move to 8-0

STEVENSVILLE, Md.- After going down 21-14 midway through the third, the North Caroline Bulldogs came back and won 28-21 over the Kent Island Bucs. With the win, NC move to 8-0 and the loss drops Kent Island to 5-3.

It started out a little sloppy for both teams, North Caroline recovering the ball on the opening kickoff after it touched a Buccaneer. Then fumbled it on three plays later. The Bulldog defense would hold the Buccaneers to a three and out on their opening drive setting up the games first score. A play action roll out to the left by Wyatt LaClair and he fired a strike to JB Brown in the back of the end zone to put North Caroline up 7-0 to end the first quarter. On the ensuing KI drive, the Bucs would get a spark of their own. From mid field, QB Matt Burnside rolled out to his right and launched a bomb to KeJuan Johnson in the end zone for the game tying score to start the second quarter.

Just fifteen seconds later, a North Caroline handoff up the gut to Eithan Dvorack and he sheds a few tackles on his way, 33 yards to the end zone for their second lead of the game. On the next Kent drive, Burnside would get his second TD of the half. This time a roll out and a strike to Chaney Skeans and he toe tapped in the end zone for the score, extra point blocked so NC keeping the  14-13 lead.

On the next North Caroline drive, the Bulldogs got the ball inside the five yard line with three minutes to play in the half. The Buccaneer defense stood strong stuffing them four straight plays to keep the halftime score 14-13.

In the second half, the Buccaneers came out red hot. They forced a three and out on the next few NC drives but the offense unable to get things going until late in the third quarter. With under five minutes left in the third quarter the Bucs would drive into the red zone and Isiah Shockley punched it in to give Kent Island their first lead of the game.

North Caroline would go on a 14-0 run in the fourth quarter. Their first touchdown of the second half came from Zamir Dennis who punched it in from the three. Then after stopping the Bucs on third down forcing a punt, the Bulldogs ran the clock down to just forty five seconds. On third down from the four yard line, LaClair faked the handoff inside and found Montrese Deshields for the potential game winning touchdown. On the last chance for Kent Island, the Hail Mary attempt would be intercepted by JB Brown to seal the 28-21 comeback.

The Bulldogs return to action next Friday when they host Colonel Richardson. The Bucs look to get back on track next Friday when they travel to take on Queen Anne’s.
