New basketball courts put in at Truitt Street Community Center
SALISBURY, Md. – Kids in Salisbury have a new and improved space inside of the Truitt Street Community Center.
Officials and volunteers worked together to put in a brand new basketball court inside the building.
The floor was previously just cement that was painted over, but after allocating some money from the city’s budget, officials were able to buy the new flooring.
Organizers who work with kids at the center tell 47 ABC this change was necessary to make the center that much better for the kids.
“It definitely helps with their knees, the cushion on their knees, for running and jumping on cement, it’s just definitely a big difference, and you can just tell the difference, the kids bodies tell a difference from being on this floor,” JerMichael Mitchell, Youth Development Specialist for the City of Salisbury, said.
Mitchell tells 47 ABC that this is just the beginning of changes at the Community Center, and they plan to make several more improvements.
