Millsboro police kick off Whiskers for Wishes campaign
MILLSBORO, Del. – If you walk through the town of Millsboro you may get the chance to see a police officer with a beard.
That is because the town’s police department has officially kicked off its Whiskers for Wishes Campaign.
With the holidays around the corner, the annual campaign aims to raise money for families in need.
Police say that by letting their facial hair grow, they will encourage people to donate to their campaign.
The town’s Grace United Methodist Church will then buy Christmas gifts, which will go to several families.
The project generates thousands of dollars every year.
They hope to beat last year’s record of 5,400 dollars in donations.
“We want to be the department that’s out there caring and show our caring side and we want to be able to help more and more families each year and make sure that everybody can have a Christmas,” said Sgt. David Moyer at the Millsboro Police Department.
If you are interested in helping you can reach out to the Millsboro Police Department at 302-934-8174.
Police are also encouraging people in the community to grow their own facial hair and help raise awareness.
