Lewes man arrested on over 40 counts of falsifying business records

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Rehoboth Beach Police arrested a Lewes man last week after it was learned that he had altered receipts at his place of employment.

On October 14th, just before 4 p.m., officers were called to 48-year-old Michael Maricle’s place of employment on North First Street after a customer had returned to investigate a discrepancy between their receipt and amount charged to their bank card. The manager located 41 transactions handled by Maricle between August 28th and October 7th of this year, in which the receipts had been altered.

Maricle admitted to altering the receipts to officers and was charged with 41 counts of falsifying business records. He was released on $8,200 unsecured bond.
