Indian River continues soccer dominance over Wildcats
DAGSBORO, Del. – For the fifth consecutive season Indian River boys soccer defeated Henlopen South-rival Delmar Thursday night, 4-0, following pregame ceremonies for IR’s seniors.
The Wildcats had a golden opportunity early, when Ryan Kowalksi was awarded a penalty kick in the sixth minute. Kowalski’s kick would go high, and graze the crossbar and go out of play.
Just three minutes later, senior Jared Cordoba blasted a shot past the Delmar keeper, his fifth of the season.
Indian River basically put the game away in the final five minutes of the first half with goals from Arturo Cruz Bonilla and Omar Baker.
Freshman Jordan Illian added his fifth goal of the season 70′ to close out the scoring.
Indian keeper Bastian Perry recorded his sixth shutout of the season in the victory.
Indian River (7-1-1) will host Sussex Academy on Monday at 6 PM. Delmar (6-4) will travel to play Worcester Prep Saturday at 1 PM.
