Hebron man charged in connection to hit and run accident
HEBRON, Md. – Maryland State Police have charged a Hebron man with DUI and other charges following a hit and run accident Monday evening.
At around 8 p.m., MSP troopers as well as deputies with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to 507 N. Main Street in Hebron for a report of a suspected drunk driving/hit and run collision that caused property damage. On arrival, police found a license plate from the suspect’s vehicle lying in the victim’s yard, leading police to the suspect’s residence a short distance away.
Police identified the suspect as 43-year-old Larry Merritt. While speaking with Merritt, signs of impairment and a strong odor of alcohol were observed. Following standardized field sobriety tests, Merritt was arrested and charged with DUI and other charges related to the hit and run collision.
