Global Cat Day shines light on feline friends
SALISBURY, Md. – Cat lovers, rejoice! Wednesday is Global Cat Day, a day all about feline friends.
Global Cat Day is all about celebrating, fostering, rescuing, and adopting cats and kittens.
Often times, shelters are so overcrowded with cats that they have a hard time bringing in more strays or abandoned cats that need homes.
So days like Wednesday aim to show people all that cats have to offer!
Whether you’re looking for a super cuddly senior cat, or an adventurous little kitten, there are tons of cats just waiting for “furever” homes.
And you may be thinking that it’s almost winter, so that means kitten season is over — but not quite yet.
“This is supposed to be the down time for kittens, but not this year, we’re still getting lots of kittens in, usually in the winter time there’s not that many there used to be none but now we’re having kittens all year round,” Kim Helmbrecht, Office Manager at the Wicomico County Humane Society, said.
The Wicomico County Humane Society says that if you are interested in rescuing a cat, a humane society is a good place to start, because the cats are usually up to date on vaccines, and can come at a lower cost.
