Fatal crash investigation underway in Milton

MILTON, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that happened Thursday night.

Police say shortly after 11 p.m., a Toyota Avalon was traveling northbound on Coastal Highway approaching Lockerman Road when it failed to maintain its lane and veered off the east edge of Coastal Highway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle continued driving along the grass shoulder of Coastal Highway where it crossed over Lockerman Road and hit a tree.

The driver and sole occupant, a 64-year-old Milton man, was reportedly not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
