ECI assault leaves two injured

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The state of Maryland has confirmed that they’re investigating an incident that ended in injury at the Eastern Correctional Institution. The Department of Public Safety & Correctional Services say it happened earlier this afternoon inside the walls of ECI. The Executive Director of Communications and Outreach says that Correctional officers did intervene after “multiple inmates assaulted each other”.  They tell 47 ABC, two inmates were injured, one apparently with an edged instrument. Those inmates were also reportedly taken to a local hospital, No staff members were injured.

The investigation is still underway.
