Dover man arrested in connection to September burglary
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police have arrested a man in connection to a burglary that happened late last month.
Police say they were notified that an apartment in the 300 building of Isabelle Isle was burglarized between 4:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on September 26th. It was learned that the suspect, identified as 22-year-old James Ewell, had stolen a key fob to the apartment at a gathering the day before. He then stole several clothing items, cash, electronics, and a handgun from the apartment.
On Monday, Ewell was seen riding as a passenger in a vehicle on Governors Avenue near Reed Street. Ewell initially fled on foot but was taken into custody a short time later. He was found in possession of 55 ecstasy pills at the time of his arrest, and a search warrant at his apartment led to the discovery of a handgun with an obliterated serial number, ammunition, and evidence linking him to the burglary.
Ewell was charged with second degree burglary, theft of a firearm, theft over $1500, second degree conspiracy, three counts of possession of firearm/ammo by person prohibited, possession of firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of ecstasy (tier 4), possession of firearm with obliterated serial number, possession with intent to deliver ecstasy, fugitive in possession of firearm, illegal gang participation, resisting arrest, and drug paraphernalia.
He is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $157,700 bond.
