Dionte Dutton Trial: Day 2

SALISBURY, Md. – Surveillance videos, phone calls, pictures, and grand jury subpoenas: that’s what one witness with the Maryland State Police testified about for hours on Wednesday in the trial against Dionte Dutton.

Dutton, who is the second person charged in the 2017 murder of Jaquanta Walton, sat quietly, occassionally nudging his defense attorney to whisper a comment.

Corporal Scott Sears testified to being one of the first responders to report to the hospital after Walton was killed outside of the VFW while playing a dice game.

That murder launched a months-long investigation which Corporal Sears says lead to grand jury subpoenas, wire taps, and DNA evidence.

The state argued on Wednesday that all of that evidence leads to one conclusion: that Dionte Dutton helped plan and execute the murder of Walton.

The state did not argue that Dutton pulled the trigger, but rather that he was an accomplice to Lee Braboy, who has already been convicted in this case.

While Wednesday focused almost entirely on Corporal Sears’ testimony, the state is still expected to call several more witnesses.
