DE man arrested after allegedly hitting victim with car
LINCOLN, Del. – A Lincoln man is behind bars after police say he struck another man with his car following a verbal argument between the two.
33-year-old Nicholas J. Arches was arrested by Delaware State Police on Tuesday, October 8th after troopers were called to the 8700 block of Clendaniel Pond Road for a report of a person being struck by a vehicle. During their investigation police learned that Arches had been in a verbal argument with a 38-year-old male at Arches’ residence and that the 38-year-old was trying to walk away. As the victim was walking away Arches began traveling westbound on Clendaniel Pond Road and eventually swerved and hit the man with his black Chevrolet Cobalt as he was walking in the grass area off the roadway. The victim sustained minor injuries and declined medical treatment.
Arches was located at his home on Clendaniel Pond Road and taken into custody without incident before being taken back to Troop 7 and being charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, assault second degree, reckless endanger first degree, and driving while suspended or revoked. He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $20,500.00 cash only bond.
